Description
Tetracera is a genus of flowering plants of the Dilleniaceae family. They are scannable shrubs or lianas , with rough pubescence and often starry; polygamous dioecious plants. Leaves simple, alternate, coriaceous, conspicuous rib; exestipulated. Inflorescences paniculate, axillary or terminal, with many flowers; sepals 4-7 (-12), imbricate, orbicular, glabrous, strigose or sericeous, more or less equal or outer ones slightly smaller, persistent; petals 3-5; stamens 50-200; carpels 1-5, piriform, free, 1-locular, capped stigma. Follicles 1-5, pyriform, dry, dehiscent along the ventral suture; seeds 1-4, surrounded by a lacerated aril.
