Description
They are perennial, cespitosas plants, with short and oblique rhizomes, of 2-5 mm of thickness; Culms sharply triquetros, reaching a size of 20-120 cm high, roughly rugged angles. Leaves with V-shaped sheets, 20-80 cm long. Bursts of inflorescence 4-11, horizontal to slightly ascending, up to 50 cm long, 6-12 rays, up to 14 cm long, digitized chapters, 10-35 mm wide; Spikelets 10-40, oblong to linear-lanceolate, 5-18 mm long and 2-3 mm wide, coffees, persistent raquilla; Scales 12-40, broadly ovoid, 1.5-2.3 (-3) mm long and 1-3 mm wide, 2-nerve in the middle, deciduous; Stamens 1 or 2, anthers 0.8-1 mm long; Stigmas 3. Fruit trine, ellipsoid, 1-1.5 mm long (with apical face 0.1-0.5 mm long) and 0.3-0.7 mm wide, smooth, brown.
