Carex kelloggii (Carex kelloggii)
Description
Carex lenticularis Michx. , is a species of herbaceous plant belonging to the family of the Cyperaceae. It is native to much of northern North America , including most of all the states of Canada and the western United States , where it grows in moist habitat. This sedge produces thin clusters of greenish-yellow color with angled stems . The inflorescence is an erect spike with a long bract superior to the length of the peaks. The fruit is covered in a green perigynium , sometimes purple, sprinkled under brown or black flower scales.
