Description
Sedum adolphii is a species of the crassulaceae family, commonly called, evergreens, conchitas or stone flower (Crassulaceae), within the order Saxifragales in what we commonly call dicotyledonous plants, although nowadays they are grouped within Magnoliopsida. The name of the genus means "sedentary" or "sitting", this probably because of their growth habits; the species is apparently given in honor of Adolphe-Théodore Brongniart , botanist and scientist of the nineteenth century, founder ofmodern paleobotany and who helped prove that pollen exists. Plant of the Crassulaceae family; perennial , glabrous , subarbustive, branched stems, ascending or decumbent , smooth; leaves lanceolate to oblanceolate, acute or subacute, sessile, alternate, piled up at the apex of the stems, curved, 3.5 cm long, about 15 mm wide, yellowish green with reddish border, new leaves captive and carinated. Lateral inflorescence, 7-15 cm long, compact, hemispherical, pedicels 12-15 mm long, flowers 18 mm in diameter, white petals, square nectaries, reddish. Distribution This species has been registered only Mexico. Environment There are no known data of its natural habitat. It is not cataloged under any conservation status or category, whether national or international. It is well known as an ornamental plant.
