Description

Phedimus aizoon (Syn .: Sedum aizoon L. ) a species of the genus is Phedimus in the family of Crassulaceae (Crassulaceae). In German it is also called thickleaf fat hen. Phedimus aizoon is a perennial succulent plant with a tuber root rhizome , which usually reaches stature heights of 30 to 40, rarely 20 centimeters or more. The most changeable and not heart-shaped stem-covering leaves are ei-lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, the reason is narrowed. They are often sawn to the top, 5 to 8 inches long and about 2 inches wide. The flowers are radial symmetry . The petals are yellow. The flowering period is from July to August. The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30-34, 56, 48, 61, 63, 64, 78, 80, 84, 85, 88, 93-97 or 102. Phedimus aizoon occurs in Siberia, Mongolia, China and Japan in arid places, bushes, meadows, rocky stream banks and sandy cliffs. However, it is naturalized in places in North, Northeastern and Central Europe.
