Description
Turbina is a botanical genus of flowering plants belonging to the convolvulaceae family . It includes 64 described species and of these, only 13 accepted. They are perennial vines; with fleshy and crawling stems, pubescent or glabrous. Leaves petiolate, cordata, whole, membranous or chartaceous, pubescent or glabrous. Inflorescences in monocasios or dicasios compounds, axillary or terminal, paniculate or solitary flowers, flowers 1-16; sepals ovate or lanceolate, scarious margins, exteriors withered, often unequal, acres of fruit; corundum infundibuliform or hipocraterimorfa, white, greenish, pink or crimson; filaments filiform, with dilated pubescent-glandular bases, pantoporated, spheroidal, spiny pollen; 2-locular ovary, glabrous, simple style, with 2-lobate stigma. Fruits in capsules, indehiscent, dry, brown, mostly woody to more or less lignified, fusiform to ellipsoidal to more or less globose, 1-locular.
