Celtis paniculata (Celtis paniculata)
Description
Celtis paniculata is a tree from the coastal rainforest of Australia. It grows from the town of Kiama (34 ° S) in New South Wales to the Endeavor River (15 ° S) in the tropics of Queensland. It also grows on Norfolk Island, eastern Malesia, Micronesia, and western Polynesia. It grows to a height of 40 meters high and 90 cm wide. The trunk is mostly cylindrical and somewhat widened at the base. The bark is thin, brown and smooth, with vertical pustular lines. The leaves are alternate and simple, not serrated and 6 to 10 cm long with the pointed end. The stem of the leaf is somewhat ribbed and flattened on the back, 6 to 10 mm long. The base of the leaf is often obliqua, this is because the length on each side of the leaf is unequal. The rib of the leaf is more evident on the underside. Green flowers form on peaks and appear from December to January. The fruit is a rounded drupe 8 to 10 mm long, containing only one seed. The fruit ripens from August to March.
