Description
Cyanea profuga is a non-branched shrub that reaches a height of 1.8 to 2.4 meters. The elliptical leaves are 18 to 24 cm long and 7 to 10 cm wide. They are glabrous. The leaf margin is serrated, tipped at the tip of the leaf, and wedge-shaped at the base of the leaf. The leaves are 8 to 12.5 cm long. The inflorescence contains nine to twelve white flowers. The inflorescence axis is 25 to 40 mm and the flower stalks are 8 to 10 mm long. The oblong to upright conical flower cup is 6 to 7 mm long and 3 to 4 mm wide. The elongated petal folds are 3 to 5 mm long and 1 to 2 mm wide. The tip is rounded. The bare flower crown is 30 to 35 mm long and 2 to 3 mm wide. The flower-tube is half-erect. The lobes are spread apart. Their length corresponds approximately to the length of the petiole or 3/4 of the length. The "gynostegium" (stamping column) is smooth. The dust bags are smooth. The two lower dust bags have pointed white hair follicles. The berries are unknown.
