Camelia roja (Pereskia portulacifolia)
Description
Pereskia portulacifolia is only known from four locations in Haiti and Dominican Republic. It has a small distribution (extent of occurrence is approximately 6,500 km2) and the quality of its habitat is known to be declining due to deforestation. As a consequence, three of the four known locations may be significantly impacted. On the assumption that the species is extant in these three locations, it qualifies for the category Vulnerable. However, records for two of these localities are old, and if evidence of extirpation in any of these places is confirmed, it may qualify for Endangered or Critically Endangered
