Nopal de culebra (Opuntia decumbens)
Description
Opuntia puberula is a species in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) of the cactus family(Cactaceae). Spanish trivial names are "Nopal de Culebra" and "Nopal de Tortuga". The specific epithet puberula means (lat. Puberulus) weakly pubescent '. Opuntia puberula grows low shrubby. The green, fluffy, thick, mostly egg-shaped shoot sections are 7.5 to 12.5 inches long and 5 to 7.5 inches wide. They have reddish tipped, rapidly falling, up to 4 millimeters long leaf trudiments . The areoles , which are quite far apart, have a slightly reddish colored yard. Your glochids are short. The two to four spreading, white thorns are up to 1 centimeter long.
