Spider cactus (Gymnocalycium denudatum)
Description
Gymnocalycium denudatum ( basioniem : Echinocactus denudatus ) is a cactus . The plant is also sometimes called spider cactus, because the areole and the thorns together, do something about a spin to think. The usually five thorns lie tight against the plant and are curved. The body is shiny dark green and up to 20 cm high and 5-15 cm in diameter. The plant forms sprouts from the base. The relatively large areoles are covered with light felt that later turns to gray. There are five to eight ribs.
