Chin cactus (Gymnocalycium baldianum)
Description
Gymnocalycium marsoneri grows individually with gray-green to copper-colored, depressed spherical shoots that reach heights of growth of up to 7 centimeters in diameters of up to 14 centimeters. The nine to 21 flat ribs are rounded and notched. The approximately seven straight to slightly bent back, light brown thorns are darker in old age. They are 2 to 3 inches long.The yellowish white to white flowers reach a length of 3 to 3.5 inches and a diameter of 3 to 4.5 centimeters. The spherical to somewhat egg-shaped fruits are purple or red or bluish green.
