Devil cholla (Grusonia kunzei)
Description
Grusonia kunzei grows richly branched and forms mats up to 50 cm high. The bent, lobe-shaped, narrowed down to their base drive sections 10 to 15 centimeters long and have diameters from 2.5 to 4 centimeters. They are filled with clearly recognizable 2 to 3 centimeters long cusps. The circular areoles are covered with gray to white wool and a few yellow glochids , which are 5 to 6 millimeters long. The 17 to 27 mandrels are distributed along the shoots and obscure them. The upper thorns are ocher to reddish ocher, spreading and angular at their base. The longest of them will be up to 5 inches long. The lower thorns are ocher, white, Strongly flattened and bent downwards. The longest of them reaches a length of up to 4.5 centimeters. The yellow to light yellowish flowers reach lengths of 1.5 to 2 centimeters. The inverted ovate to oblong, lemon yellow to yellow fruits are fleshy and are filled with glochids and thorns. They are 4 to 7.5 centimeters long and have diameters of 1.5 to 4 centimeters. Occasionally the fruit sprouted.
