Copao (Eulychnia breviflora)
Description
Eulychnia breviflora is a species in the genus Eulychnia from the family of cactus (Cactaceae).Eulychnia breviflora grows tree-shaped, is richly branched from the base and reaches stature heights of 3 to 7 meters. There is a clear, short stem. The almost upright shoots are gray or dark green and have a diameter of 8 to 11 centimeters. There are 10 to 17 slightly tattered ribs that are occasionally furrowed between the areoles . The areoles are close together and are covered with abundant wool and hair. The thornsare brownish at first and dread in old age. They are often difficult to distinguish in middle and side thorns. The 1 to 2 strong, protruding middle spines are 10 to 20 inches long. The 10 to 20 spreading edge thorns are up to 1.8 inches long.
