Description
Echinopsis formosa initially grows one by one, later occasionally branches from the base and then forms groups. The spherical to cylindrical, light green to blue-green shoots reach in diameters of 25 to 50 centimeters growth heights up to 1.5 meters. There are 27 to 50 rounded ribs , which are clearly notched and bumped. The dark areoles on them are up to 1 centimeter apart. From them arise needle-like, yellowish to reddish-brown thorns . The two to nine middle spines are 3 to 20 inches long. The nine to 15 Randdornen are spread out, straight or little bent and have a length of up to 3 centimeters.
