Devilthorn (Echinocereus pseudopectinatus)
Description
Echinocereus pseudopectinatus usually grows individually . The light green cylindrical shoots are up to 20 cm long and have a diameter of 5 cm. They are partly hidden from the necessity. There are 15 to 16 slightly bumped ribs . The three to five protruding, whitish middle mandibles are occasionally arranged in two rows and have a length of 0.5 to 1.5 centimeters. The twelve to fifteen, whitish marginal spines are 0.9 to 1.5 centimeters long. The funnel- shaped flowers are magenta. They appear near the tip of the shoot, are up to 11 centimeters long and reach diameters of 6 to 9 centimeters. The globular fruits are red and powdery.
