Description
The biznaga , yellow biznaga , biznaga split of Berger or biznaga split tear ( Coryphantha glanduligera ) belongs to the family of cactaceae ( Cactaceae ). The word Coryphantha comes from the Greek 'koryphe' top, top, head and 'anthos' flower, meaning plants with flowers on top. The term glanduligera is by the Latin 'glandula' gland and the Latin 'gera' that it carries; that is, biznagas that carry glands. It is a biznaga of the Cactaceae family of the order Caryophyllales . It is described as a simple plant; its stems are claviform, up to 12 cm high and 6 cm in diameter; apex somewhat depressed; its tubers are conical, with grooves with 1 to 2 red glands; underarms when young with wool, with age naked, with 1 to 2 red glands. The areolas are oval, with wool when young, with time naked. Radial spines range from 17 to 20, acicular, the lower and lateral radiated, the upper ones grouped in a fascicle, all white-yellowish with the dark tip. Central spines 4, subulate, the longest curved down, the 3 remaining shorter, all brownish-yellow with the dark tip. The flowers are yellow or pink; succulent fruit almost round, green. Seeds reniform, brown, with reticulated testa .
