Description
It is a globose fleshy perennial plant armed with thorns , and with yellow flowers. Branched body, 5-20 cm long, greenish gray, globose heads, 5-10 cm in diameter. Ribs 10-17, thorns 2.5 cm long, straight or somewhat curved, black or dark reddish. Flowers 4 cm long, light yellow. Fruits 10-13 mm long.Cactus of genus and endemic species described as C. montana and also with the mollicula form (C. montana fma.molliculaCited as a valid species in Marticorena et al. 1985, but does not appear as such in Hoffmann (1989)Taxa variable, which has 3 different forms.
