Description
Tillandsia streptophylla , is a species of epiphytic plant within the genus Tillandsia , belonging to the family of bromeliads . It is native to America . They are acaulescent plants, which reach a size of 20-36 cm tall in flower. Leaves 17-37 cm long; pods 3-5 cm wide, pale brown to reddish-brown, densely appressed-lepidotes, cinnabar trichomes on the upper surface and brown on the underside; Narrowly triangular sheets, 2-2.5 cm wide, densely cinéreo-lepidoto patent. Scale 4-18 cm beyond the pseudobulb, foliaceous bracts much longer than the internodes; compound pinnate inflorescence, up to 10 spikes, primary bracts 2-5 cm long; ears 5-17 cm long, with 6-9 (-15) flowers, ascending to erect, floral bracts 1.8-2.8 cm long, imbricate, erect (divergent in the anthesis), ecarinated, smooth or the nerves covered by the cinéreo-lepidoto dense, subpatent, chapleceous to coriaceous, sessile or subsessile flowers; sepals 1.2-2. 2 cm long, free, the 2 posterior carinae; purple petals. The fruits are capsules of 3.5 cm high.
