Begonia tambelanensis (Begonia tambelanensis)
Description
Begonia tambelanensis is a plant species of the family Begoniaceae . This begonia comes from Borneo . It was described in 1929 by Edgar Irmscher (1887-1968) as a subspecies with the basionym of Begonia peninsulae subsp. tambelanense , then raised to the rank of species in 2003 by Ruth Kiew (1946- ...). The specific epithet tambelanensis means "Tambelan", referring to the Tambelan Islands where the original type was harvested by Henry Nicholas Ridley.
