Weber'S Century Plant (Agave weberi)
Description
Agave weberi, common name "maguey liso," is a succulent perennial plant native to northeastern Mexico (Tamaulipas and San Luis Potos-) but naturalized in parts of southern Texas. It prefers sandy locations with low shrubs. Agave weberi is a relatively short species, the leafy trunks rarely more than 1 m (3 feet) in height. The leaves, though, can be up to 160 cm (5.2 feet) long and 18 cm (7 inches) across. Flowering stalks can reach a height of 8 m (27 feet). Flowers are yellow, up to 8 cm (3 inches) long.
