Dypsis acaulis (Dypsis acaulis)

Description

Dypsis acaulis is a species of palm trees ( Arecaceae ) It is endemic in the eastern part of the Masoala peninsula in the province of Diego-Suarez in Madagascar This palm tree grows in the bottoms of valleys, along the banks on the slopes of low hills on basaltic soilsand those derived from quartzites The species is present on two sites: one is located on the border of Masoala National Parkand the other inside the park. In 2012 it is considered by the IUCN as a species in danger. Whereas in 1995 it was considered extinct in the wild. Its habitat is threatened along the edge of the park mainly by selective logging and expansion of agriculture.
