Peruvian wax palm (Ceroxylon pityrophyllum)
Description
Ceroxylon pityrophyllum has a solitary stem, which reaches 4-20 m high, and 10 to 30.0 cm in diameter, green, covered with a very thin layer of wax. The leaves 12-20 in a spherical crown, often grayish and with persistent dry leaves hanging. The inflorescences staminated 3-4 at a time, with a peduncle 40-121 cm long. The pistillate inflorescences 4-8 at a time; with peduncle 69-185 cm long, 2 cm wide at the apex. Subglobose fruits, orange-red when ripe.
