Description
“Pet poisonous” – Toxic parts: berries Ilex centrochinensis was described by Shiu Ying Hu. The name is considered as validly published. The shrubs reach heights of 1,5 to 3 metres. Ilex centrochinensis is evergreen. The green, simple leaves are alternate. They are elliptic, spiny and petiolate. It produces solitary yellow cruciform flowers from March to April. The shrubs produce red drupes in autumn. Ilex centrochinensis is native to China. The shrubs prefer a sunny to half-shady situation on fresh to moist soil. The substrate should be sandy-loamy or sandy clay soil. They tolerate temperatures down to -18°C
