Carolina Milkweed (Asclepias cinerea)

Description

Unlike some of its more brightly colored relatives, Carolina Milkweeds flowers are more or less grayish with touches of lavender and white. The inflorescence consists of to several loosely flowered umbels, each of which has 3-0, 3/8 to / inch flowers on long, drooping stalks. The stems are thin and erect but typically droop at the tip under the weight of the infloresecence. The -4 inch leaves are opposite and narrowly linear in outline. The fruit is a narrow 4 inch follicle. (Bibref 60)
