Description
Bunium is a genus of flowering plants in the Apiaceae, with 45 to 50 species. They are perennial herbs with a tuber or underground. Stems flexuous in the lower part. Inflorescences with bracts and bracteolas. Absent or tiny calyx teeth. White or slightly purple petals. Fruits of ovoid to oblong-ovoid, brown, with 1-3 vitas for vallecula, and 2 or 4 commissural vitas. Conical or conical-flattened stylopod, sharply narrowing in style. The genus was described by Carlos Linneo and published in Species Plantarum 1: 243. 1753. 3 The type species is: Bunium bulbocastanum
