Dwarf Desert Honeysuckle (Anisacanthus puberulus)
Description
Pinky anisacanthus is larger than either flame acanthus (A. quadrifidus v. wrightii) or dwarf acanthus (A. linearis), with broader leaves, a more sprawling form, and pink flowers which occur only in early spring and sometimes in fall. It is native to the Chinati Mountains in the Trans-Pecos, but not a common plant there. Pinky anisacanthus does not lend itself as well to landscape use as the other two species, because of its lanky form and relative smattering of blooms.
